Flat rope
Flat rope is a thin, woven rope made of polypropylene. Polypropylene is a strong and durable synthetic fibre which is ideal for outdoor use as it is easy to clean and does not absorb moisture. Furthermore, it is very weather resistant towards sun, rain and wind.
Polypropylene is reusable and therefore easy to recycle.
Studio CHS offers natural and black flat rope as standard options. Customized colours are available for volume orders.
Poly wicker
Poly wicker is made from polyethylene resin that is spun into strands and is a more weather resistant and economic alternative to natural wicker. It is highly durable and more resistant to damage from direct sunlight, fungi, and moisture which makes it ideal for outdoor use.
Poly wicker is easy to clean and maintain and can withstand the elements better than natural materials. The colour of poly wicker does not fade as the colour is part of the material, not a surface treatment. Strands of poly wicker rarely break under normal use, but if they do, repairs are easy to make
Cotton webbing
Cotton webbing is a lightweight and environmentally friendly alternative to synthetic webbing.
It is produced from 85% recycled cotton and 15% polyethylene, which increases the webbing’s water and moisture resistance. Cotton webbing is preferred as it has good load bearing capacity and prevents the webbing from starting to sag over time. Seats and backs braided with cotton webbing provide good support and comfortable seating.

Paper cord
Paper cord is made of FSCÒ-certified (FSC-C135991) sustainable materials with a light wax for better cleaning opportunities.
At Studio CHS, we only use paper cord of the highest quality and once woven, it is flexible and thus comfortable to sit in. Paper cord is a very durable and sustainable material that can last for up to 60 years and patinates beautifully. If broken, paper cord is easy to disassemble and re-weave.
Studio CHS offers natural and black paper cord. The natural paper cord is made of unbleached paper, while the black cord is dyed.
