Woods

All sourced wood is FSCÒ-certified (FSC-C135991) of the highest quality and comes from responsible suppliers. Sourcing, treating, and manufacturing the wood is all done in the Studio CHS factory which gives full control of the quality inspection as well as the lead times from the uncut log to the final piece. Standard surface treatments as well as customized treatments are available.

Eucalyptur

Eucalyptus is a very strong and durable wood type suitable for both indoor and outdoor furniture. Thanks to the high oil content it naturally contains, eucalyptus naturally resists the influence of moisture and lends furniture 20-25 years of service.

It grows naturally in tropical climates and can grow up to 100 metres tall. Eucalyptus grows very fast which makes it a sustainable choice as less resources are needed. In addition, eucalyptus is among the most frequently planted wood types across large parts of the world’s subtropical zones. Eucalyptus is cut down when it is 20-25 years old and 40-45 metres tall with a diameter ranging from 70-80 cm at the base and 30-40 cm at the top. All sourced eucalyptus is FSCÒ-certified (FSC- C135991) of the highest quality and comes from responsible suppliers.

Untreated, eucalyptus has a pinkish brown colour that changes to reddish brown. The growth rings are even with a uniform texture which gives eucalyptus a very homogeneous look.

Additional durability and easy cleaning opportunities are obtained by surface treating eucalyptus. Furthermore, the surface becomes more resistant towards moisture damages and fungi when used outdoors.

At Studio CHS, we have standard surface treatment options but can also customize to fit individual needs.

Sourcing, treating, and manufacturing the wood is all done in the Studio CHS factory which gives full control of the quality inspection as well as the flow of raw materials and components from forest to sawmill to manufacturing. This allows us to monitor lead times from the uncut log to the final beautiful piece.

Oak

Oak is a hard and very durable wood type due to its natural high content of tannic acid among other things.

Oak grows naturally in Europe, North America, and Asia, and can grow up to 35 metres tall and 3 metres in diameter. All sourced oak is FSCÒ-certified (FSC- C135991) of the highest quality and comes from responsible suppliers.

Untreated, oak has a brownish colour and a lively look with visible, wide growth rings.

By surface treating oak, additional durability and easy cleaning opportunities are obtained. When oiling, staining, or painting oak, the wood structure is clearly visible through the paint due to the open structure of the wood.

At Studio CHS, we have standard surface treatment options but can also customize to fit individual needs.

Teak

Teak is a very elastic wood type with a high natural content of oil, which makes it extremely durable and weather resistant. It is resistant to fungi which is a primary reason why teak is so optimal for outdoor furniture.

Teak is an exotic wood type and grows naturally in tropical climates. It can grow up to 40 metres tall and with a diameter of 1.2 metres. All sourced teak is FSCÒ-certified (FSC- C135991) of the highest quality and comes from responsible suppliers.

Untreated, teak has a flaming, golden-brown shade and a lively look with dark stripes that follow the growth rings. For each log, teak can vary dramatically in colour and growth rings.

Untreated teak has a flaming, golden-brown colour and can last for decades due to its natural content of oil, whereas oil-treated teak has a warm reddish-brown colour with a golden shade. With time, teak will patinate and develop a silver-grey shade unless treated with oil regularly.

Beech

Beech is a very hard wood type and ideal for indoor furniture.

Beech grows naturally in Europe, especially Central Europe, and can grow up to 40 metres tall and 2 metres in diameter. It is relatively easy to source due to the large tree trunks with little waste. All sourced beech is FSCÒ-certified (FSC-C135991) of the highest quality and comes from responsible suppliers.

Untreated, beech has a reddish-brown colour, and the surface is even with dark brown, comma-shaped flecks.

By surface treating beech, additional durability and easy cleaning opportunities are obtained. As beech has a homogenic surface with little absorption, paint and other surface treatments are evenly distributed on the surface. Therefore, when painting beech, the wood structure is not visible through the paint.
